Description
Peened exterior Terrazzo is amalgamated with aggregates, cements and dyes. Leaving a granite like finish on the face side. Peened Terrazzo has an anti-slip finish which makes it ideal for use in private gardens or public places of high foot traffic. Due to it’s high resistance and low cost, it was the material most used in interior and exterior pavements. Terrazzo flooring was first used in Venice in the middle of the fifteenth century, as a method to use the pieces left over from the construction of marble floors. Terrazzo word derived from the Italian word "terrazza" - in turn derived from the Latin "terracĕus" (land) - because initially these soils were used to pave the terraces surrounding the houses of the construction workers. In its original composition, terrazzo floor is simply composed of a clay base on which marble chippings and pebbles were poured. Later these stones were polished to achieve a more comfortable pavement.
